Soldier Drives Two Hours to See Shen Yun

ATLANTA—Ashlei Titre saw Shen Yun Performing Arts twice; in Augusta, Georgia, on Dec. 19, then drove more than two hours to Atlanta to see the show again.

She did this because, “The show is such a wonderful show. Filled with so much color and excitement, it really hits your heart as much as possible. The message really gets through to you so deeply. It's so close to me, I thought I’d come along for the ride.”

She liked the dance called Handkerchiefs because of the teamwork she saw among the dancers, and the “talent it takes to move something made of cloth along with your own fluidity of moving cloth.”

“It’s amazing. To put the strength and fluidity together, it’s so hard. It’s a lot of practice. You’re putting in a lot of work. You have to constantly put in hours and hours and hours to make it such a wonderful show."

“The conductor, she is amazing. The music is a lot of teamwork. They have to be intact. It’s just wonderful and amazing." She noted that the musicians seemed so peaceful as if meditating, while waiting for their part.

The young soldier is stationed at Fort Gordon near Augusta. She studies Eagle Claw Kung Fu, a Chinese style of traditional martial art. Not only does she pursue that discipline, she studied acting in high school, graduating as an Honors Thespian. “I wore a pink cord!” [to signify the achievement]

Ms. Titre, her martial arts teacher, and a fellow student saw the show in Augusta on Dec. 19. As her fellow student predicted, Teacher Cruze did intensify their training schedule after seeing the precision of the dancers in the company.

“He’s added to our schedule. I knew he would!”

She studies language, and was impressed with the fluency of the masters of ceremonies. “They are an inspiration with their language skills.”

She would like to say, “to the people, I highly suggest you come see the show. To the dancers I want to say, ‘Good job. I can feel the energy and power.'”

“Look into the Fei Tian Academy, because it’s an amazing opportunity for kids. You have to make your own opportunities.” Fei Tian Academy is the performing arts school where many members of the Shen Yun companies have studied.

Shen Yun New York Company performed its final show in Atlanta on Jan. 17 and will perform in Washington, D.C., from Jan. 19-24.
