ATLANTA—The theater was packed with a vocal and responsive audience on the final show of Shen Yun's 2010 Atlanta series. Some professional people discovered the New York-based company for the first time this year, though it has been visiting Atlanta from New York since 2006. Mr. Taylor owns his own business. He brought his Korean wife, Aeyol Taylor, to the performance.
Mr. Taylor said, "Oh, I'm really enjoying it. I'm learning a little bit about Chinese culture. It's quite beautiful."
Ms. Taylor found the show "nice, very nice. Beautiful colors, clothes. [The music] very nice.
Mr. Taylor's face wore a gentle expression as he said, "The heritage that they’re showing us about their beliefs, that’s what I like about it."
'So I had to quickly buy a ticket'
Another business person, Ms. Rice was so taken with the televised publicity for the show that she promptly snapped up a ticket. She said she strongly wanted to come after glimpsing what the show might be like. "It was the colors. It was like looking at flowers on the television. So I said, I think I’ll come and see it in person."
Ms. Rice was very pleased with her decision. " It’s great, it’s great. I knew it would be when I saw the commercial. So I had to quickly buy a ticket. The colors, the colors are so vibrant. It’s just beautiful."
She had no prior knowledge of Chinese culture. "I’ve never really experienced any Chinese culture."
Ms. Rice has traveled to Japan.
At intermission, she had just seen the Tibetan Dance of Praise. She said, " I like the dance, The praise dance. It was really cool"
Ms. Rice was glad she had "just bought one ticket for me." She said she really wanted to come. "I did!'
Shen Yun New York Company performed its final show in Atlanta on Jan. 17 and will run in Washington D.C. from Jan. 19-24.
