The Erhu 'was like a soul crying out' Said Arts Buff

ATLANTA—Ms. Dale, employed in the financial sector, enjoyed an evening with the Shen Yun Performing Arts Company performed by the New York-based company on Saturday, Jan. 16, at Atlanta's Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
All audience members seem to adore the costumes worn by the artists, and Ms. Dale was no exception, "I thought the costumes were outstanding."
Ms. Dale considers herself an arts lover, "I like to dress up for a show because I love the arts."
Summarizing why she enjoys shows, she explained more fully: "I like the arts. I was raised with them. My mother was a painter and my father a musician, not by trade, but as a hobby. My children and I have been involved in one way or another in the performing arts, the choir, or band."
The Shen Yun show was filled with a medley of music, dance, and song offering the audience different cultural aspects of a foreign land.
"The entire show, the stories, just everything was beautiful. The stories were beautifully written and beautifully performed," she said.
She particularly noted the beauty of a unique Chinese instrument. "The music played by the violin was just outstanding."
The instrument, actually a Chinese erhu captivated her. "The two stringed instrument was spiritually moving. It was like a soul crying out."
Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company will perform in next in Memphis, TN on Jan. 19.
