ATLANTA— The evening performance of New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts at Atlanta's Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre Saturday, Jan. 16, inspired interior designer Kim Fong. She and her husband, American-born Chinese IT specialist Jun Lee Fong, talked about their responses to the show.

Ms. Fong described the show by saying: "It was beautiful, the colors were very beautiful and it was very inspirational."

She liked the Chinese culture in the show, and said "Some of the history and spirituality we can understand."

As an interior designer she said, "The backdrop was really interesting, it was very fun, and the colors were vivid and beautiful. "

"I was just emailing my partner telling her it was inspirational with the colors for design. My partner and I are always looking for inspiration in colors to do our interior design work. I work on the interior of homes, restaurants and club houses."

The music also appealed to her, "I loved the music, especially the two-stringed instrument [the erhu]. That was beautiful, it was my favorite. The sound was amazing. When I heard it, I felt peace, soothing and calm; it just takes you to a special place," she said.

Ms. Fong's husband spoke his view of the show, too, "It was a phenomenal show, not just from the performance but also from the color choices and set. Everything really tied together to infuse all the traditions, all the stories even so much that the general public wouldn't see or know. It was amazing."

He said he can speak a little bit of both Cantonese and Mandarin. He noted more "stories in this performance than I have seen before. Not just the dancing and the waving of ribbons, but there is more of the story like of the Gods and immortals." Traditional myths and legends from China play a big part in Shen Yun performances.

"I came because being American born, I do not have a [connection to] the traditions in my life. The show is good for me, its good for all of us," he concluded.
